Mobile listening enjoyment has a new name: Byron. Our new headset series combines great sound with high-quality workmanship and ease of use.

Other products in the Byron series:

Natural sound

The Byron BTA in-ear headphones offer an exceptionally detailed music playback on your mobile device. A natural high-resolution sound with pleasant bass ensures absolute enjoyment when listening to music. Thanks to a specially adapted digital signal processor (DSP), the top model in the series offers an even finer and more balanced sound, epitomising our high musical standards. Look forward to in-ear sound excellence.

Wireless transmission

The Byron BTA is the first wireless headset in our range. Music and phone calls are transmitted via Bluetooth. This gives you new flexibility with the usual excellent sound. All playback devices can utilise their sound potential fully thanks to the use of Qualcomm aptX® and AAC codecs, ensuring top-quality Bluetooth transmission.  The acoustic transducers for right and left ear are connected to one another simply by means of a short cable. The earphones can be connected very simply and wirelessly to your mobile device using the Bluetooth connection. Tangled headphone cables are therefore a thing of the past.

Hours-long music enjoyment

A high-performance rechargeable battery supplies the headsets with energy for up to 7.5 hours. A voice prompt informs you of the current charge level. Any USB port can be used for charging, for example using a smartphone charger or laptop. A practical fast charging cradle is included. It handles remote control for the headphones and eliminates the need for a micro-USB port. The cradle can remain connected to the PC at home while the headphones can simply be docked as required. And even better: the charging process takes less time. The top model needs just 90 minutes to charge fully instead of two hours.

Microphone and remote

The Byron BTA headset is equipped with a 3-button remote control and a hands-free microphone for use on Apple and Android devices. All playback functions can therefore be controlled with ease – without having to take the smartphone or tablet from your pocket. You can use the remote control to pause the music as required, skip forward to the next title or adjust the volume. Thanks to the integrated hands-free microphone, not only can the Byron BTA headset be used for listening to music but also for phone calls. Calls can be answered and ended with ease on all popular smartphones.

High wearing comfort

A perfect fit is essential to provide full sound quality and ensure enhanced listening comfort also over longer periods of time. The Byron BTA headset therefore comes with replaceable silicone eartips in three sizes. You can replace these small silicone plugs yourself with ease and choose them in a size that fits your ear.

Moreover, we have also taken into account the fact that some people are very active while wearing their headsets: Two ear hooks are included as bundled accessories for this purpose. The silicone loops are assembled in addition to the normal attachments and nestle into the earshell while wearing. The earphones thus always fit perfectly into the auditory canal.

You can really see the quality of the headphones in their aluminium housing with a magnetic holding system. As you’d expect, Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall sounds great. The frequency range from 10 to 25 kilohertz is audibly and tangibly exploited. It is just the bass which is sometimes emphasised too much for us, so that we have to take the volume back a bit, which then affects the overall sound. However, even if we would personally prefer more space around the ears, the BTA is a really good set of wireless headphones. The splintering of glass and mortar is reproduced as a fantastic effect. A slight echo on the singers’ voices creates a mystical stereophonic effect. The choir of children’s voices doesn’t obscure the guitar music or the drums in the background and the changes between the various instruments, voices and effects are dynamic and effortless.

The conclusion: a high-quality set of wireless headphones for ambitious listeners. Sometimes a bit too close to your ears, but with outstanding surround sound.

With its Byron models at the IFA fair, Beyerdynamic has brought its first two Bluetooth in-ear units onto the market. While the Byron BT (100 euros) is only equipped with an aptX codec, the Byron BTA which we tested supplies the complete package. Apart from aptX for Android smartphones, this also includes the AAC codec for Apple devices. The engineers have also squeezed in an additional signal processor into the cable control unit. This introduces more fine detail into the sound, which is quite noticeable in practice. The Byron BTA shows a lot of attention to detail, whereby individual highlights remain wonderfully distinct. Moreover, it has pleasantly wide acoustics, accompanied by full, but not over-dimensioned bass tones. We would, however, prefer the high tones to be a little less aggressive, even though, as far as clarity is concerned, it cannot be faulted.

(...) but these phones also cut a fine figure with their workmanship. With the magnetically connected earpieces, the engineers at Heilbronn have found a good mix of high-quality look and feel and a low weight, while the flattened cable makes it more difficult to get in a tangle.

Test result: very good (score 1.3)

When using mobile phones or when being on the move you also want to enjoy a real good sound. This is exactly what the new Byron series from beyerdynamic provides.

At present this series includes three models. The Byron is a wired in-ear headphone, which is available at a very reasonable price of 50 Euro with a remote control optimised for Android devices.  In contrast to this the Byron BT and BTA models operate with Bluetooth – thus they are wirelessly connected with the appropriate device – and provide an extremely high comfort of wearing as well as an excellent sound, whereas the BTA also supports the AAC codec and is also the top of the series.

All three models give a very noble and subtle impression when they are first unpacked. After all, looks play a part as well, apart from that the good durability is not unimportant. All three models come with a smart case for storage and three pairs of eartips – the latter is important so that the listener can optimally adapt the earphone to one’s ears making the in-ear headphones optimally unfolding their sound.

The Byron BTA basically offers the same features as the BT, so why I should spend 100 Euro more. Well, so often, the big brother simply offers a little bit more of everything, starting with the appearance and the remote control. Everything is simply more solid and of a higher quality. But this is more a question of taste than quality. The fact that you charge the BTA with a charging station instead of simply plugging a cable is nice, but well: luxury.  But with the sound quality, the Byron BTA shows a stronger performance.

The Byron BT sounds really good, but the BTA indeed supplies a richer bass sounding more fine and elegant. This is in fact a real great sound which makes you want to listen to more music with these headphones. You literally dive into a world of sounds as they do not penetrate to the outside and the sounds supplied are pleasant, airy, clean and full. In addition to this, the comfort of wearing is really great and makes you almost forget that you are wearing a headphone.

Selecting the beyerdynamic Byron BTA is inevitable, if you also want to play audio in the AAC codec - because that is not the Byron BT. Those who want to listen not only to MP3 files, but high-quality audio material or movies, should go for this higher investment. Listening in order to compare will bring final clarity. Both Bluetooth models convinced me, but the Byron BTA clearly wins, but this is no surprise.

The new Byron series from beyerdynamic is convincing right away, and if you just want to replace the supplied headphones of your smartphone and look for good sound, comfort and solid manufacturing, the Byron Wired is the right choice for you. You receive a real good sound at a very reasonable price. Those who prefer the comfort of a wireless headphone or who have a device without headphone socket can choose between the two Byron BT and BTA models which feature a great design and manufacture and which can be comfortably worn and sound really great. The exquisite BTA is a little but up in all categories – whether you want to pay the extra price, you should decide when comparing the sound. I am definitely delighted, the Byron BT and the wired model provide a real great sound at a fair price. It is strongly recommended to try it out.
